Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - James Harden scored 33 points and hit the winning jumper at the buzzer to lift the Houston Rockets to a 113-111 triumph over the Phoenix Suns. Donatas Motiejunas scored 15 for the Rockets, who blew a 16-point lead halfway through the fourth quarter but bounced back to win for the seventh time in 10 games. Josh Smith, Patrick Beverley and Corey Brewer all posted 14 points for the Rockets. We wanted to take the last shot, Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. We flattened it out for James and James has been making big shots all year and hes got the ability to step back and gather, strong and goes up and shoots it. It was a big shot for us. Up to that point, we had done some very interesting things to allow them back in the game. Houston lost forward Dwight Howard to a right ankle sprain in the first quarter. He twisted his ankle after landing on a Suns player. Eric Bledsoe had 25 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Suns, who had their four-game overall and seven-game home winning streak broken. Isaiah Thomas scored 22 and Markieff Morris totaled 21 points for the Suns. Hardens layup with 6:11 left extended Houstons lead to 102-86, but Phoenix rallied from down five with 64 seconds left and eventually tied the game on Morris 3-point play. He drove down the lane for a layup and was fouled by Joey Dorsey. Out of a timeout, Harden dribbled with the ball near the top of the key before moving to the left elbow. Thomas came to help defensively, but he was too late as Hardens jumper rattled through the basket. Well we didnt want to let him [Harden] beat us, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. We sent Isaiah with five, but he made a good play. Isaiah flew by him at that point, but we couldnt get it out of his hands. Great players make great plays. Houston was up 32-24 after one quarter and 60-52 at halftime. The margin was in double digits most of the third quarter and 87-77 going to the fourth. Morris, though, scored 11 in the final quarter, a period in which the Suns shot 59.1 percent. Game Notes Trevor Ariza had 11 points for Houston, which shot 52.4 percent ... Alex Len had 11 rebounds for Phoenix, which went 10-of-30 from 3-point range ... Gerald Green scored 15 for the Suns ... The Rockets beat the Suns by five in Houston on Dec. 6 and have won four in a row in this series. Walt Aikens Jersey . The defeat leaves the 41-year-old Nestor to concentrate on the mixed-doubles event after winning 12 straight matches and winning Australian titles in Brisbane and Sydney with two different partners. "This was a little bit of a let down, but all credit to them," said Nestor. The two-time champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 proved once again he can figure it out on an oval, too. He showed that Friday night as he picked up the win in the Alberta Has Energy 300 in the inaugural event at Edmonton International Raceway. Ranger tied the series all-time record with his 19th career win, and won back-to-back races for the first time since August 2009 following his victory on the road course at Circuit ICAR in Quebec last week. It was also his first oval win since 2009, and fourth overall. "At the beginning of the day we didnt have a really good car, so we improved lap after lap," Ranger said "During the race my car was really fantastic." The race was stretched to 316 laps around the quarter-mile bullring following a late caution that involved early race leader Alex Tagliani, and required Ranger, who took the lead on Lap 269, to hold off LP Dumoulin and Jason Hathaway on the final restart. "The pass with Alex [Tagliani] was a little bit tough because it was almost one [racing] line here," Ranger said. "He did a little mistake and I was able to take him in [Turn] 3." Dumoulin and Hathaway waged a battle throughout the last two laps of the race for second and Dumoulin came out ahead, followed by Hathaway, J.R. Fitzpatrick aand D.ddddddddddddJ. Kennington. Joey McColm, Larry Jackson, Scott Steckly, rookie Stefan Rzadzinski and Noel Dowler completed the top 10. Fitzpatrick, Kennington and Steckly were all two laps down at different points during the race and rallied back for top-10 finishes. Tagliani, who won the pole position for the race earlier in the day, finished 13th. He led a career-high 268 laps. Fitzpatrick and Dumoulin are now tied for the season points lead after four races at 162 apiece while Rangers back-to-back wins have bumped him up to third, 12 tallies behind the co-leaders. Dumoulin has finished top-five in all four races this year, two more than any other driver. "Thats our first podium on an oval, and the guys have been working really hard," Dumoulin said after finishing second. "We were within sight for the last run. I knew being in second was not a good spot for the restart at the end, obviously we had to fight for that spot, but we kept our head up and made it happen." Ranger now shares the Canadian Tire Series career wins record with Kennington. That accomplishment came one week after he tied Fitzpatrick for the series all-time poles mark at 14. The race was slowed by 11 cautions for 94 laps, including two red flags. The Alberta Has Energy 300 will air on TSN on Sunday, July 20 at 3pm et/Noon pt and on RDS2 on Saturday, July 26 at 3pm et/Noon pt.
