ROGERS, Ark. -- Stacy Lewis made a 7-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday in the NW Arkansas Championship to finally win an official event in her adopted state. The top-ranked Lewis, the Texan who played at the nearby University of Arkansas, earned an unofficial win in the rain-shortened 2007 tournament as an amateur. On Sunday, she closed with a 6-under 65 for a one-stroke victory. Lewis birdied three of her final holes for her third LPGA Tour victory of the year and 11th overall. She finished at 12-under 201 at Pinnacle Country Club. Lydia Ko, Cristie Kerr and Angela Stanford tied for second. Ko finished with a 65, and Kerr and Stanford shot 67. Second-round leader Michelle Wie shot a 73 to tie for eighth at 8 under. Kerr had a chance to match Lewis at 12 under with a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th. However, her putt came up short. Then, after So Yeon Ryu failed to make an eagle on the final hole, Lewis win was secured. Ryu ended up fifth at 10 under after a 69. Lewis won the Shoprite Classic this month as well as the North Texas Shootout in May. The two-time major winner has long said, though, how much pressure she felt to win in Arkansas -- where she was a four-time All-American in college and is greeted throughout rounds by calls of "Woo Pig Sooie." She was tied for the lead entering the final round last year before finishing in a tie for fourth, but her final birdie spree finally secured her sought-after win Sunday. Wie began the final round with a two-shot lead after back-to-back 5-under 66s, but she missed short birdie putts on the first two holes and struggled to a 1-over front nine -- capped by a three-putt bogey on the ninth. The whirlwind media tour following last weeks win at the U.S. Womens Open appeared to finally catch up after that with Wie, who followed with bogeys on Nos. 10 and 11 to effectively end her contention. She finished with 35 putts after needing 28 the first round and 29 in the second. With Wie coming back to the field, several players climbed up the leaderboard and into contention on the back nine -- with Lewis, Ko, Kerr and Stanford part of a four-way tie atop the leaderboard at one point. Lewis began the tournament 2 over after her first four holes Friday, but she closed by shooting 14 under over her final 68 holes. She took advantage of the opening with Wies stumble and vaulted into the solo lead at 11 under with a birdie on the par-4 16th. Ko and Kerr answered with birdies to climb back to part of a three-way tie at 11 under, but Lewis had the last answer -- a 7-foot left-to-right birdie putt on No. 18 that resulted in a huge ovation from the pro-Arkansas gallery and a fist pump and sigh of relief from Lewis. Lewis putted 25 times Sunday, a day after needing only 24 putts in the second round. Chella Choi briefly was tied for the lead early in the round after a hole-in-one on the 166-yard par-3 sixth hole. She finished with a 69 to tie for sixth at 9 under. John Albert Elway, 24, was booked into jail early Saturday morning after an incident near a college campus in downtown Denver, according to jail records. The Winnipeg Jets are 6-1-3 in their past 10 overall after a 5-1 rout of Buffalo on Tuesday and look to keep the roll going against the Boston Bruins tonight. Viewers in the Jets region can watch the game live on TSN3 starting at 6pm ct. The game can also be heard live on TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele had two goals and an assist as the Jets bounced back from their only regulation loss in the past three-plus weeks, 4-1 to Anaheim in the opener of a four-game homestand Saturday. Winnipeg (16-10-6) earned that victory despite a thinning defense corps. Coach Paul Maurice announced Tuesday that Jacob Trouba, who leads all defensemen on the team with 12 points, is out until February with an upper-body injury. Tobias Enstrom and Zach Bogosian also are on the shelf. The Jets did get defenseman Grant Clitsome back after a six-game absence due to an upper-body injury, and he had an assist on Scheifeles first goal. They also acquired defenseman Jay Harrison from the Hurricanes in exchange for a draft pick Thursday. Theres nothing that really changes in what were trying to do, Maurice said. The big part is that we have got four healthy lines up front, fortunately. Weve got to stay on the forecheck and burn the clock and generate as much time in the offensive zone as we can. Dustin Byfuglien is being moved back to the blue line to make up for those absences. He scored in last months defeat and has two goals and an assist in his last three games against the Bruins. Brad Marchand didnt have a point for Boston in the first meeting after registering four goals and an assist in his previous five matchups. He has three ggoals and five assists in the eight games since that victory.dddddddddddd Evander Kane has three goals and an assist in his last five games against Boston. He had a goal and an assist Tuesday after producing two assists in his prior six contests. The Boston Bruins earned one of their few victories in the past three-plus weeks during a visit from the Winnipeg Jets, but road games in the series have not gone their way. The Bruins look for their second win in six trips to Winnipeg and try to earn back-to-back victories for the first time in nearly a month Friday night. Boston is 3-5-3 in its last 11 but won 2-1 in overtime against the Jets on Nov. 28. The Bruins (16-13-3) needed another extra session Wednesday for a 3-2 victory at Minnesota that snapped a season high-tying three-game skid. Loui Eriksson won it with his third goal in five games. Carl Soderberg scored his first in 16 contests, and points leader Patrice Bergeron had his first in the past 12. The Bruins also got forward David Krejci back after an 11-game absence due to a hip injury. Weve played some games where weve worked really hard and havent gotten the results we wanted, backup goaltender Niklas Svedberg said. Obviously its a great feeling for us to get a win. Weve just got to build off it. Boston hasnt earned consecutive wins since a three-game streak Nov. 15-21 and is heading to a place where its 1-3-1 in five visits. The Bruins are also 1-4-2 in their last seven road games against the Jets franchise compared with 13 straight home wins. Boston is 2-0-1 in its last three on the road while Winnipeg is 3-1-1 at home this month.
